Akura delivered Kelso Gateway, a large format retail centre in Bathurst, designed to support national tenants and long-term retail performance. Delivered under our fully integrated design and construct model, the project ensured alignment from concept through to completion, combining efficient delivery with durable, high-quality outcomes.


Designed for high-performance retail environments
Located within Bathurst’s primary bulky goods corridor, Kelso Gateway brings together over 5,300m² of retail space with a national tenant mix including Officeworks, Rebel Sport, Supercheap Auto and Snooze. The precinct is designed to support efficient customer access, clear circulation and functional servicing, with front-facing parking and rear loading zones enabling seamless day-to-day operations. In-house manufactured structural steel and precast elements supported build quality, program control and long-term durability.

Kelso Gateway is a large format retail precinct designed to balance visibility, accessibility and operational efficiency. The development consolidates multiple lots to create a scalable retail environment, supporting strong tenant presence and intuitive customer movement while maintaining separate servicing access for uninterrupted operations.
Our Process
Akura delivered the project as a fully integrated design and construct partner, refining an existing DA-approved concept and managing design, approvals, manufacturing and construction under one contract. Our in-house steel and precast manufacturing, located 5 minutes from the site, enabled greater control over quality, sequencing and program delivery.
